What restaurant did you go to this time?
I went to an Italian restaurant called “Rosso Vino” in Robertson Quay.
That’s quite a lot of word of mouth! Is it so reputable?
Yes, it seems that’s why it’s so well-received, winning awards on Trip Advisor and so on. I’ll be reviewing it in detail in this issue, so be sure to read it through to the end!

Pros / Cons
Atmosphere
Appearance
The restaurant is located along the river in Robertson Quay. It is a very nice location and the beautifully lit up night view is wonderful at night.
I found this sign at the entrance to the restaurant, which appears to be quite highly rated on Trip Advisor. This is probably one of the main reasons why it has garnered over 3,000 Google reviews. Therefore, I think that the clientele includes many travelers in addition to Singapore residents.
Interior
The indoor seating area looks like this. The atmosphere is calm and cozy.
In addition to table seating, the restaurant has counter seating like this. It is convenient for one or two people.
This is the outdoor terrace seating along the river. It is a very spacious and open space. It is quite cool at night and has a nice view along the river, so we recommend it.
There is plenty of outdoor seating on the back side of the restaurant. It has a very nice European feel to it. Even residents can feel as if they are on a trip abroad.
The restaurant is very popular and is crowded with many customers. I have been there without a reservation and could not get in, so you must make a reservation in advance when you visit.
Food
Menu
The menu list was so extensive that we would like to pick out a few pages to show you.
Here is the page for appetizers, salads & soups. The menu is very easy to choose from because of the pictures. The menu seems to have all the standard Italian dishes.
The pasta and pizza menu is very varied. Pasta with homemade pasta is also offered.
One of the unique points of the menu was the availability of a gluten-free pasta page. This wheat-free pasta is rich in fiber and is intended for those who prefer a healthier diet. I did not try the pasta, so I am not sure what it tasted like, but perhaps this is one of the reasons for the popularity of this menu. It is very European.
Finally, I would like to mention that the pizza menu was very extensive. It is nice to be able to choose from so many options to suit your tastes.
Eating
SPAGHETTI AGLIO OLIO $22
This time I ordered AGLIO OLIO. It is what is called peperoncino. It was a very simple yet elegant tasting pasta. The garlic flavor is just right, not too strong and not too thin. Most notable is the noodles of this pasta. They are slightly thick and chewy. You can really enjoy the chewy texture. I recommend this dish.
There are so many other types of pasta that I would like to revisit and try more of them.
ROASTED POTATO $12
I ordered this ROASTED POTATO as a side dish with pasta. The potatoes are also very well cooked and salted. Well, there is no reason why this kind of potato menu should not be delicious. The size is just right for one person.
PINOT GRIGIO $18
AGLIO OLIO goes very well with white wine; PINOT GRIGIO is a grape variety commonly produced in Italy. It is characterized by its fresh, light flavor, fruity aroma and soft acidity. It is considered a good match for lighter dishes such as seafood, light cheeses, salads, and white meat poultry. Of course, it is also perfect with pasta. It is a white wine you should definitely order with Italian food.
Access
If you take the MRT, the closest station is Fort Canning on the Downtown Line, which can be easily found by walking along the Singapore River, or from the Boat Quay side, just past the tunnel.
Summary
This is a nice Italian restaurant in a very good location along the river in Robertson Quay. The menu has a wide variety of dishes to choose from, especially pasta and pizza. You will feel as if you were on a trip to Europe.
It is a very well-known and standardized restaurant, so there is no sense of unearthing, but it is a highly stable Italian restaurant that you can’t go wrong with. If you have never been to this restaurant, why not check it out?
We also recommend “No 8 Eight Rodyk Street”, an Italian restaurant run by a couple on Robertson Quay. Please take a look at this article if you are interested.
