Atmosphere
Appearance
Here is the exterior of the restaurant. From the outside, it looks like a house. You will enter the store by going down the stairs. The store is located in the area of BLOCK 9B in Dempsey.
Interior
The exterior of the restaurant did not give off a very special atmosphere, but upon entering, I was surprised to find a very stylish interior. Each decoration is very elaborate, and it is a cozy space that evokes a sense of nature.
The restaurant is surrounded by greenery, and you will remember the atmosphere as if you were dining in the great outdoors. It is a very well-designed restaurant that is very bright with natural light during the day and becomes a wonderful space illuminated by stylish lights at night.
I visited on a weekend night and the seats were almost completely filled. I could sense the high popularity of the restaurant. Reservations are a must at this popular restaurant.
Food
Menu
Here is the menu list. The number of menus itself is not so large, but it seems that the menu is narrowed down to carefully selected items in each genre. Recommended menus are marked with ★, so it is easy to choose even for beginners of Peruvian cuisine. You will not be disappointed if you order a menu item with this mark first.
Drink menus are laid out under the plates on the table. It is a stylish layout. In addition to this, there is a wine list with quite an extensive menu.
Eating
Now, let me introduce the dishes I actually ordered.
Coquena Premium Lager (310ml) $22
The first beer I ordered was this Peruvian lager beer, Coquena, which seems to have been named after a spiritual figure passed down among the indigenous people of the Andes Mountains region. The beer is a solid, robust beer, and at $22 for 310ml, it is a bit pricey, but it’s not often that I get a chance to drink Peruvian beer, so I guess I can’t really blame them. The beer itself is very tasty.
Ceviche Clásico $28
Ceviche is a typical Peruvian dish made with fresh seafood marinated in lemon or lime juice. Ceviche is a dish that should not be missed in Peru, a country famous for its seafood. The Ceviche Clasico I ordered this time followed a traditional Peruvian recipe, and it was an exquisite dish with absolutely nothing to complain about. The fresh white fish was so plump and juicy, and the refreshing taste of the lime combined with the fish made it hard to stop eating.
The purple potato fries also do a very good job with the perfect light salt seasoning and go very well with beer. This is a recommended dish that you should definitely order when you come to this restaurant.
Bachiche $32
For the second dish, I ordered Bachiche, which was marked with ★ from the Tiradito genre. Tiradito is a Peruvian dish consisting of fish cut in the shape of sashimi, similar to carpaccio, and stewed in a cold, sour, and spicy sauce. It is said that Japanese immigrants influenced Peruvian cuisine and gave birth to this dish. The fish used in this dish is also Japanese hamachi. As its history shows, it is a dish that suits the Japanese palate very well. The unique flavors of Peruvian cuisine have a nostalgic flavor. I highly recommend this dish as well.
Anticuchos (3pcs) -Westholme Beef $28
This is a Peruvian style skewered dish. You can choose from chicken or beef. The price for chicken is $24. Westholme Beef” is known as a high quality and rare meat, which is produced by learning Japanese Wagyu beef raising methods and quality standards, and adapting them to the Australian climate and climate. It is extremely juicy and full of flavor. It is then tossed with a richly flavored “adobo sauce” commonly used in Central and South America, and almonds, a combination that is simply divine. It was one of the most delicious skewers I have ever eaten overseas.
Mariscada $40
At MAIN, I ordered “Mariscada” from the FISH & SEAFOOD genre. It is one of the most popular dishes among tourists, reflecting the food culture and rich marine resources of Peru’s coastal areas. What is surprising is the plumpness of the shrimp. I have rarely eaten such thick-fleshed shrimp. The dish is a parade of seafood, including white fish and octopus. The dish is topped with a creamy sauce called “Huacaina,” which is used in Peruvian cuisine, and wrapped in lettuce for the best taste. It is a bit pricey, but it is a must-try dish when you come to this restaurant.
Access
The store is located at Block 9B in Dempsey, and since Dempsey is not served by the MRT nearby, we recommend taking a bus or a cab.
Summary
I myself had not had much Peruvian food before, but I was overwhelmed by the quality and taste of the food. I had heard that some Peruvian dishes have flavors unfamiliar to the Japanese palate, but at least if you order according to the ★ mark on the menu, you should be fine.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is very stylish, and the green surroundings make you feel as if you are dining in nature.
The price is a bit on the expensive side, but it is understandable if you consider that the price includes the rarity and high quality of Peruvian cuisine and the wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant.
I highly recommend this restaurant and encourage everyone to visit.
